Also a relatively new love of mine. Actually, all total, I've only been in two musicals. I didn't do anything my freshman year (stupid stupid stuipd) so I had to cram as much in my sophomore year as I could to make up for it. In the first musical I was in I showed up late so the director put me as a story teller (that is, someone who doens't really take part in the action--just sits and watches and occasionally sings) It was small but the people in the cast were wonderful. Everyone got along, despite having ages ranging from 2nd grade to 12th, with a few adults in the orchestra. I made some of the best friends ever while in that musical.
Just recently I was casted into my third musical for the beginning of next school year. I am an Italian singer (like the kinds you see at restaurants) in a trio group. It's a really good part. I'm deffinately excited.
As for plays, I haven't been in any yet, because without music, it just wouldn't feel the same. I do help out though, because the play director (not the same as the musical director I might add) needs a costume person who knows what they are doing and can sew fairly well. I also double as a makeup person, because I know a LOT about makeup. I don't hardly wear any anymore, but for a while I did and my mom, former beautician, showed me all the tips. Stage makeup isnt all that different. Just a bit more dramatic and extreme. Every play I now have a job doing costumes and makeup. Neat, huh? I love it.
I don't act very well yet, but I'm a quick learner and being as brassy as a steamwhistle I shouldn't have too much problem getting out on stage as lead my senior year. (That's one of my goals by the way! =))
